@ cheleski: I have been natural off and on for many years. After my first set of locs, I cut them and rocked a fro for a while, then, I got a relaxer for a year. After coming to my senses, I transitioned for 4 months and did a BC, which lead to this journey.
The journey to personal growth is never ending. It is very difficult to except oneself in a society that has historically made us to be the unwanted step-children of the world. That includes but is not limited to excepting the beautifully unique nappy hair that grows out of our heads(which has been vilified since they brought us here)! My struggle is to take back the pride, self love and respect for ourselves.
I am a mom of 5 and that keeps me plenty busy along with my hubby. I am a teacher which also keeps me plenty busy.. but it's very fulfilling. Purpose and fulfillment are life necessities for me, with out them I will wither and die.
